This house is also one of the Nugapitiya Family's ancestral residences, also known as the Nuwara Walawwa, is an esteemed Sri Lankan family whose heritage is deeply woven into the cultural fabric of the island. Originating from the verdant highlands, the family is associated with a historic manor house that stands as a symbol of the island’s colonial past and traditional Sri Lankan architecture. The name “Nuwara” reflects their connection to the highlands (nuwara), where the family’s ancestral estate has been a center of local community life for generations.
